It’s not the biggest or the oldest tree in the wood, but we’ve been visiting it for four years and its position is spectacular, sticking up way above everything else and visible from miles around. I inch along the moss-covered branch that hangs close to the ground (green trousers – sorry Mum!), and from there up a slippery branch to a high cleft, to be rewarded with one of the best views in England.Sammy, 12
