Vistry’s shares slumped to their lowest since the 2016 Brexit vote. But even before that, it has been a bad decade for the six homebuilders in the FTSE 350. Investors would have fared better tracking either the FTSE 100 or the mid-cap FTSE 250 over that time. Vistry is in the middle of the pack, down 48 per cent while Barratt Redrow, whose chief executive also announced retirement plans on Wednesday, is off 55 per cent.
