Miles Jacobson, studio head at developer Sports Interactive, is an exception to this nonconformism. “When I play my careers, I always play as Watford,” he says, a Hornets jacket hanging from the back of his chair. During development, he’ll play as all manner of teams — including those for whom he holds an “irrational or partly rational hatred” — but once the game is ready, it’s back to Watford’s Vicarage Road home ground that he heads.
