The V-level plan is intended for 16- to 19-year-olds who want work-focused training in areas such as engineering, finance and accounting, or creative industries, developed with employers. It amounts to the biggest shake-up in post-16 education since the Conservatives in 2016 came up with T-levels, which provide two years of technical training. Unlike T-levels, however, which are an alternative to academic A-levels, V-levels will be offered alongside them. They will replace a “confusing” array of 900-odd vocational-linked courses offered today.
