But it is also possible that, like other bad ideas, ESG will change its appearance to survive. The wretched essence of ESG was not that it was lefty or woke (though it was, and that did harm). It was fundamentally wrong, not about politics, but about how corporate capitalism and markets work. The risk is that ESG survives political change by switching its political valence.
